What are airport lounges? Airport lounges are areas where passengers can wait for their flights. Entry is usually based on membership in airline programs or other companies such as Priority Pass or LoungeKey.
Each airport may also have several lounges that are designed to provide premium service and comfort to passengers. There are usually comfortable seats, snacks, free Wi-Fi, workspaces, televisions, printers and other facilities for work and relaxation.
Location and Accessibility
Situated in Terminal 1, the Mastercard Lounge is intended for passengers travelling outside the Schengen area. There are many signs on the walls, and it is easy to find the lounge on the second floor. To find it, follow the signs towards Gate B after passing through passport control and the bustling shopping area.
I recommend checking the official airport website for specific opening hours, as they may vary.
Entry Requirements
The Mastercard Lounge extends its warm embrace to a range of passengers. Among those privileged to enter the Mastercard Lounge are the following:
- Owners of Mastercard premium cards
- Members of the Priority Pass, LoungeKey, DragonPass, TAV Passport, LoungeBuddy, and CCS business card programs
- Passengers in first and business class, as well as members of various airline programs.
In addition, the Mastercard Lounge also offers one-time entry for passengers who are not members of the above programs. However, it’s worth noting that purchasing admission becomes unavailable if the lounge reaches capacity.
Atmosphere of the Mastercard Lounge
As I approached the entrance, an airport staff member greeted me and efficiently checked my ticket and eligibility for lounge access.
Stepping into the Mastercard Lounge, I immediately felt a sense of tranquillity wash over me. The lounge exudes modern elegance, with thoughtfully arranged tables and comfortable seating arrangements. The space was divided into separate sections, ensuring ample privacy and comfort for all guests.
As I explored further, a well-stocked refreshment area caught my attention. A selection of dishes and beverages awaited, ready to satiate hungry travellers.
Moving on to the next room, I was pleasantly surprised to find a sleek and contemporary interior accentuated by cosy furnishings. It offered a serene ambience, perfect for unwinding while observing the graceful dance of departing and arriving planes.
A delightful children’s corner beckoned in the final room, thoughtfully equipped to keep young passengers entertained. One particular highlight for me was the abundance of electrical sockets available, ensuring that my devices stayed charged without any inconvenience.
Food and beverages
Food enthusiasts will find solace in the Mastercard Lounge’s culinary offerings. An assortment of spreads, ham, cheese, vegetables, and pastries can satisfy cravings for light refreshments. The lounge thoughtfully spreads its gastronomic treasures across different rooms, alleviating crowding concerns.
Adjacent to that, a selection of hot dishes awaited, including soup, pasta, and crispy chicken pieces. While the limited variety of these options was slightly disappointing, it did not overshadow the overall experience. Cookies, cereals, and milk were readily available for those with a sweet tooth.
As for beverages, the lounge showcased an impressive array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. I noticed fridges stocked with different types of beer and white wine, catering to various preferences. In a separate refrigerator, an assortment of refreshing fruit juices awaited. To my delight, a high-quality Lavazza coffee machine was on hand, ensuring a delightful caffeine fix for coffee enthusiasts like myself.
Final Thoughts
Overall, despite its minor shortcomings, the Mastercard Lounge at Václav Havel Airport provides a welcoming and serene environment for travellers to rest and rejuvenate before their journey. The beverage options were impressive, with various alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices. Whether it was a crisp beer or a refreshing fruit juice, the Mastercard Lounge had something for everyone. And let’s not forget the Lavazza coffee machine, which delivers a much-needed caffeine boost to satisfy any coffee lover’s cravings.
