London Heathrow Airport has five terminals. Qatar Airways is located in Terminal 4. There are seven airport lounges in the departure area – Plaza Premium, Blush Lounge, Gulf Air Falcon Gold Lounge, Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge (currently closed), Sky Team Lounge and Qatar Airways Lounge.

I read on many travel blogs that Qatar Airways provides excellent service. Therefore, the flights in business class and first class, plus their lounge, have been on my list for a long time. This year, I finally had the opportunity to test if it is true what they write about them.
Qatar Airways is a member of the Oneworld Alliance along with other airlines such as British Airways of England, Iberia of Spain, Finnair of Finland, Cathay Pacific (LHR to HKG flight review, lounge at LHR T3), Japanene Japan Airlines (LHR to HND flight review) and many others.
Where is the Qatar Airways Premium Lounge located?
The Qatar Airways airport lounge is near Gate 1 and Gate 6. After passing through security and passport control, turn left and follow the sign “Qatar Airways Lounge”. The entrance is next to gate 1b and the Premium Plaza Lounge.
The information signs throughout the departure area are excellent, and the airport lounge is relatively easy to find.
The lounge is open from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. More info on the official website here.
Who can enter the lounge?
I was greeted by a smiling staff at the reception. I wondered where they got so much positive energy at six in the morning. After checking the ticket, I was directed to the door on the right. Somebody told me later that there are two lounges there – Qatar Airways Premium Lounge and Frequent Flyer Lounge.
Qatar Airways Premium Lounge is intended for passengers flying in first and business class. The Qatar Airways Frequent Flyer Lounge is for all travellers who are Sapphire and Emerald members of the oneworld airline program.
Qatar Airways does not offer single entry for other passengers.
Inside the Qatar Airways Premium Lounge
At the beginning, there is a small lobby with beautiful orchids. A section with orange seats and a small bar counter follows next.
Along the windows were comfortable armchairs in two colour combinations – orange and brown. I think they changed the colour combination as there are different colours on their webpage. For each chair, there was a small table with electrical plugs and a wireless charger. I find it very handy because everyone travels with at least one device.
In the back part of the lounge was a counter with food serving as a bar, too. I didn’t explore the bar part as it was too early in the morning for me, and coffee was my main priority. The last part of the lounge was for a restaurant.
Each passenger could decide whether to sit in the restaurant with the table service or near the counter (with the table service, too). Each table had a QR code. Once scanned, the menu was displayed on the phone.
The view from the lounge is only to a small part of the terminal, where you can see the parked planes.
Food and beverages
A small bar counter with wine and champagne is at the entrance to the lounge. There was a selection of four white wines (Sacerre Blanc, Chablis, Moss Wood Chardonnay and Meursault), one rose wine (Miraval Rosé) and three red wines (Nga Waka Pinot Noir, La Réserve de Léoville and Cielo d’Ulisse).
For those who needed their morning dose of caffeine, like me, three Nespresso machines were ready. Under them was a selection of various soft drinks and water.
After the first cup of coffee, I decided it was time for breakfast. First, I thoroughly examined the offer on the counter. One part was full of dairy products, including yoghurts. In the second part, there were plates with cheese, ham and fruit.
In addition, an Arabic breakfast, omelette, porridge and a selection of sweet pastries with pudding could be ordered. I decided on another cup of coffee, a detox juice, a plate of fruit and a chocolate muffin.
If the passengers preferred to sit in the restaurant, they could go to the last room. The staff seated them at one of the tables, and they could order from the menu.
What else does the lounge offer?
The staff at the entrance informed me that they do not announce flights. However, when it was time to board the 8:30 a.m. flight, Qatar Airways staff walked through the whole lounge and informed everyone.
I quickly peeked into the shower as the door was open.
And as always, I had to check the toilets too. They looked pretty luxurious. The soap and hand cream were from the French brand Diptyque. There were small towels for wiping hands.
There was also a luggage room somewhere, but I couldn’t find it.
To visit or not to visit
The Qatar Airways Premium Lounge at Heathrow Airport was a delightful surprise. The staff was very attentive and always catered to all needs. After the departure of each passenger, the table was thoroughly cleaned.
The verdict is that if you have the opportunity to visit it, definitely do so. It was the best airport lounge I have seen at London Heathrow Airport.
